I just wanted to let you know that Youth for Christ is having an informational hour and facility tour on Wednesday, January 21st. They have almost totally redone their facility downtown. It is from 12:15-1:15pm and lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A. You just have to rsvp to let them know (so they have enough food) at 237-4741.
This Saturday (December 6, 2008) at 1pm Tim Gunn is coming to the Gottschalks at River Park. It is even free!!! The even cooler thing is that you can call for reservations (800-375-5851) to reserve a free seat!
Anyone who has been in Fresno very long knows that Christmas Tree Lane is a local mainstay with beautiful homes decorated very elaborately for Christmas. One of my own memories of Christmas Tree Lane was caroling with my 3rd grade Brownie Troop in a little shelter/box that was set up.
Christmas Tree Lane is actually Van Ness from Shields to Shaw avenue (car traffic travels north). This year it runs from December 2, 2008-December 28, 2008. The walk dates this year are Tuesday December 2nd and Wednesday December 10th.
We at the NerdFamily prefer doing the walking nights where we park at Fig Garden. You can then take a bus (with a small fee) that will drop you off at the Shields end and you walk back to your car. But if you are driving, please consider your route carefully. If you need to flip a u-turn you might be waiting a while.

First off, congrats to Ashley Swearengin for being the next mayor of Fresno! But I puzzled by those who are puzzled. Why are we shocked that the Republican won in Fresno county? Especially in the year of Prop 8. Yes, yes I understand it is a non-affiliated party. I have also have a bridge to sell you. While she didn't have an R behind her name on the ballot she holds important what Republicans hold important. And that shapes at least my vote. Why does it also shock people that she had a plan? Did you think she didn't think about what she would do if she won? Of course she had plan. That would be the plan she ran on.
I just don't get the surprise in it all....
If what the Fresno Bee said last week about Autry being such a big deal and hard act to follow then his endorsement should seal the election. Autry stated his support of Ashley Swearengin for Mayor of Fresno, California on his radio show today and then they are having a press conference together.
In theory we should be able to call the election now for Swearengin but we shall see.
