If you're looking for a site that combines supporting local business and finding stuff for cheap, I can't speak highly enough of zippee (http://zippee.com). You type in what service or product you're looking for and how soon you want results. Then zippee texts/emails you back with offers from local businesses. Basically, they are all competing for your business, so you get really good deals because they're trying to outbid each other. When the wife and I decided to remodel our kitchen, we were able to get an astounding and affordable plumber to help us install a new sink. The kitchen looks great! We lucked out; otherwise, I would have just thumbed through the phone book for some random dude.
